FL Studio

His primary tool for creating electronic music is FL Studio. FL Studio has it all: a mixer, a sequencer, loads of special effects and filters. Truly fantastic. He strongly suggests you purchase a copy! It takes a while to get used to using it, but it really makes music-making a digital breeze.

MAGIX Music Editor 2.0

When Jon needs to modify, cut and paste the sounds he uses in his songs, he uses MAGIX. It was cheap — he got it at Best Buy for $30. It’s very handy for the wave-editing that FL Studio can’t do. He looked at their site (magix.com), but I couldn’t find it. Maybe they don’t sell it anymore?

Bink Video’s RAD Video Tools

He’s started making songs based on movies and TV shows that he likes, and sometimes it’s useful to extract sounds from the movie trailers and movie clips that are available online. To accomplish this he uses the RAD Video Tools from Bink Video. They’re donationware, so be sure to give them a few bucks if you find their stuff useful (he did).

Loops and Samples

Jon has purchased thousands of loops, samples and instruments for use in FL Studio. Two of the places he’s gotten the sounds from are PlatinumLoops.com and PeaceLoveProductions.com. Both have a large selection at reasonable prices.

Hardware

He uses an audio-technica studio microphone for vocals (AT3035), and an Edirol UA-25 USB Audio Capture device to record from the microphone. He loves the Edirol because it’s very small (perfect for my desk) and supports two studio microphones and has a digital output for headphones.

If you’re interested in creating your own music, he wants to tell you this: it’s a lot easier (and cheaper) than you might think. You don’t need a studio (even for vocals). He records vocals in his office at home. All of the software and equipment costs came to around $1,250 (including the loops). The equipment all fits on my desk, and the software runs on my home PC. FL Studio needs a good bit of memory, so Jon suggests you don’t have less than 1GB of RAM (that’s how much he has and it works fine).

If you want to increase your search engine ranking, you should be very selective in choosing keywords. It can make the difference between a site earning as little as a few dollars a day and a site that earns hundreds of dollars a day.

Keywords, or keyword phrases for the purpose of this post is a better term to use, are one of the, if not the, most important attributes you can use for ensuring that your business is going to be successful on the Internet. Keyword phrases are what people use when they’re searching the web. You must have done searches yourself and every time you did the search engines went looking for good matches, so they can give you a selection of sites that meet your needs.

Although plenty of people do a single word search, generally speaking, it’s a little harder to get good rankings for simple single terms, especially in a competitive niche. Even phrases like credit card throw up 176 million(!) results so they are tough to do well for.

That’s where the keyword phrases come in. Credit card application, for example, has only 3,480,000 results. Still a lot, but much lower than credit card. Apply for credit card has just over 1,000,000 results.

And as long as there are good numbers of people searching for the phrase, the longer phrases are very often much easier to get ranked for. For example, there’s a 3 word phrase one of my sites ranks for and I get #1 in MSN and #5 in Google. Those 2 results bring me in steady traffic and steady revenue.

If your site uses such keywords it can be much easier to get near the top of the search engine results – especially if you know the right way to implement a link-building campaign.

When you’re writing articles you should think about a range of keyword phrases you want your sites to be ranked for. Using some of the keyword phrases in the article is a good start, but in your call to action, your resource box, be sure to use the main keyword phrase you want to rank for. Use it as the anchor text to your site. If you’re not sure what that means, here’s an example for this post:

In the example above I used keyword selection as the anchor text. Used in that way it tells the search engines that the website/page it links to is related to that phrase. A single link as I have here probably won’t make me appear very high in the search engines for that phrase, but if I undertook an article writing campaign using that phrase this post would rise up the ranks of the search engines. Any time somebody looked for keyword selection my post would be there.

When you pick your keywords spend some time checking the top 10 results in each search engine to see what your competition is. No point trying to compete with sites that already have thousands of links with that anchort text – it would be too hard to climb the search engines with that much competition.

After you’ve chosen the main keyword phrase to target you should also pick several variations. Try to create new articles based around the various keyword phrases, remembering each time to use the main keyword phrase that you’re writing about as your anchor text. That way you have a chance to appear in the search results for a number of keyword phrases, thus ensuring more traffic.

Is there an easy way to do Keyword Research?

Well, it can be time consuming to do the research on keywords and to find out where the competition is. I use a special keyword suggestion tool to do my research. For ploughing through the numbers and giving you the data you need to outflank the competition, this keywords tool is fast and easy to use.

One thing that is true is that if you do more work in less time you can get more of the results in the same time. That means if you find a way to lower how long it takes for doing research as well as improving the quality of the research, you should get much better results in the same time as you now spend.

I’ve recently been bought some beautiful picture frames as a present and I have been wondering what I was going to put in them. I didn’t want to put photographs in as I already have lots of family pictures all over the house so I decided to search the internet to see what free pictures I could find.

Well there really is not alot out there especially nothing high quality enough to print. There are lots of computer wallpaper sites but obviously the images you download from them are not of a high enough quality for you to print. 

I’d just about given up when I stumbled upon a bookmark on Digg which sounded perfect promising a nice collection of free printable pictures for you to download and then print them yourself. I decided to visit the site and I am so glad that I did.

All of the printable color pictures are taken by a professional photographer and are extremely High Quality images. There were lots for me to choose from with categories like Landscapes and Views, Animal Pictures, Sunset Images and printable flower pictures.

There is also no annoying pop ups you have to trawl through to get your printable pictures. The pictures are displayed in a lovely gallery like viewer and you can even sit back and just watch slide shows showing you all the images.

Well I’ve downloaded some beautiful pictures which have cost me nothing! – yet are the same quality of what you would usually have to pay for.

Its almost an excuse to go buy some frames – so you can fill them with these lovely images.
