Is The Samsung Instinct An Apple Iphone Killer?

Over the past couple of years the Apple Iphone has dominated a very special niche in the smartphone category. Nothing has come close to the aesthetics or the shear functionality of this very cool piece of hardware. That is until now. The latest offering from Samsung the Samsung Instinct (SPH-M800) is the first cell phone that challenges the dominance of the Iphone.

The Iphone and the Samsung Instinct look very similar in appearance both rely on a responsive touch screen interface that takes virtually no learning, and is highly intuitive to use. The Instinct leaps straight to 3G matching the latest incarnation of the Iphone, and in some cases exceeding, the data handling capability of the Iphone. Add to this a unique visual voice mail offering and the ability to seamlessly integrate with work email and you really start to bring some challenge to the Iphone. The instinct excels in the multimedia messaging and video recording department with an added excellent performance on the voice dialing. Not so strong are the slightly clunky web interface which does not have the elegance and usability of the Iphone Safari browser.

All in all the Samsung Instinct is a powerful high specified smartphone that packs a real set of useful and functional features. The design is appealing and it’s very easy to get to know how to use this phone. Combine this with a much more affordable price-tag and you start to see this as a real alternative. Calling it the ‘poor man’s Iphone’ is a touch too harsh given some exceptional features which exceed anything that is currently available on any brand of smartphone.

What’s the bottom line? This phone is a good performer at an affordable price that punches way above its weight. If you can pick up a discount Samsung Instinct than I expect you’ll be very pleased with a high performance, feature rich affordable smartphone, that looks absolutely stunning.
